A couple of weeks before the release of “I Am Dandy,” which includes his idol Andre Churchwell and a wide range of Internet personalities but not himself, Will of A Suitable Wardrobe preemptively declared he is not a dandy in a post yesterday.
Will is a vanity blogger (definition: when more than 50 percent of content is about yourself) who approaches style from a uniquely meteorological standpoint. He recently offered insight to bald men, suggesting that their heads may not retain sufficient heat in the fall and winter, and to combat this some form of headgear may be required.
In his post from yesterday, Will admitted to “a small worry” that this outfit might be too dandyish, settling the matter as to his dandyhood right there. For as Barbey d’Aurevilly has written, a dandy may spend eight hours a day dressing, but after that he thinks no more of his clothes. There’s no room for second-guessing oneself when it comes to cutting a dashing figure.
Five years ago Will faced off against Michael Anton in one of our “Who’s The Dandy?” showdowns. “Even in these rather mediocre photos,” a reader commented, “his eyes sparkle, and there is a spring in his step. He knows how great he looks. A true dandy!”
