I'm inspired by the nonchalance and sense of play shown by young Japanese 'dandies', like those featured in the street fashion magazine 'Tune' (www.fruits-mg.com). They embody a variety of 'sprezzatura' that has freed itself from the cultural baggage of Western sartorial norms. If the unstudied look involves not a little courage to pull off, these gentlemen have got it in spades.

As a recovering watch collector, I take umbrage at your comment about "wrist hardware". I find it odd that you would spend so much time meticulously planning which part of your shirt to iron, yet virtually ignore the one iconic piece of The devil is in the details, and as much as a man's suit is a tribute to tailoring, so too is a watch is a tribute to mechanical craftsmanship. While the vintage Bulova is an excellent choice, the Timex Expedition really should be beneath you. I would elevate the Bulova to daily wear, and empty your pocketbook for the vintage Patek Philippe to wear on special occasions.

Sprezzautra is not flinching when you accidentally bang it into a wall...

Rufus is very Sprezzy. His wife Sally posesses formitable Sprezz - what is female equvilent or is the term A sexual?
Derrick Miller of Barker Black trumps all in the younger set. Including those cool dudes at Freemans who have cocktails at 2pm ... in a tent. He taught me a thing or two about Sprezz, he's unbelieveble. I commented on his pocket square once and he took it off and stuffed it in my pocket in true Sprezz fashion - great guy, great gentleman.
Who else in NYC????

After having re-read Christian's comment, I've been struck with an idea for a thread. Dandy star-signs, anyone?

I love Doug's mustache. Errol Flynn's too! and Ferrando, thanks for mentioning Lord Rufus, a snazzy dresser and a fine figure of a man, possessed with the most luxurious head of hair and beard.

Beards are pretty much amazing. However, my beard is nothing to Robert's magnificent facial plumage.

Watch it, Miguel Antonio. Wittingslow and I might just team up with Lord Rufus Albermarle to teach you a thing or two about beards and sprezz. The hard way. And I think you know what I mean, Shinyface.
